Educator Workshops at MHHE

We offer a number of professional development workshops throughout the school year in partnership with local, national, and international partners to help prepare teachers to educate about this difficult and important periods in history. Every session contributed to my personal content knowledge. They all added more 鈥渞eal鈥� context to the story of not just Civil Rights but human rights on a larger scale. This was one of the most well run and professional conferences I鈥檝e been to.

The Museum of History and Holocaust Education at 麻豆视频, in partnership with the University of North Georgia and Georgia State University, offers an engaging, hands-on workshop designed specifically for preservice teachers preparing to teach the Holocaust. Participants work with primary sources, survivor testimony, and museum resources while exploring interactive teaching strategies and developing practical tools for bringing Holocaust history into the classroom.

 

Summer Institute for Teaching the Holocaust

Dates: June 8 - 10, 2027

Application Deadline: January 30, 2027

Teacher Ambassador Program

The Teacher Ambassador Program brings together educators committed to deepening their understanding of the Holocaust through virtual and in-person training, international and domestic travel, and collaboration with scholars and museum professionals. Participants return to their schools prepared to train their colleagues and teach their students about the Holocaust as a broader history and not just as a singular event. 

Support for the Teacher Ambassador Program has been provided by the Molly Blank Fund, the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, and other generous partners.

Legacy Learning Trip

The Legacy Learning Trip is a professional learning experience that uses historic sites, museums, and memorials to help educators examine the history and ongoing legacy of the Civil Rights Movement. Through place-based learning and reflection, participants develop the knowledge, resources, and confidence to bring these stories into their classrooms in meaningful ways.

The Legacy Learning Trip has been made possible through support from the Smithsonian's Our Shared Future: Reckoning with Our Racial Past initiative and other philanthropic partners.
